The show is set in the fictional American city of Elwood City, and revolves around the lives of 8-year-old Arthur Read, an anthropomorphic aardvark, his friends and family, and their daily interactions with each other.
# Mostly brings back the charm of the classic era, despite some aspects being a bit different.

# Stephen Hillenburg returned as executive producer after his departure from the series after the first movie and remained as an executive producer until his death on November 26, 2018.

# Return of other old crew members.

# With the return of Stephen Hillenburg and other old crew members, the series has massively redeemed itself after its major decline in quality during Seasons 6-8.

# Much better writing and storylines than that of Seasons 6-8.

# Hilarious meta humor.

# Hilarious humor in general, just like the classic era and Seasons 4-5.

# Major improvement in the lighting, animation and character designs.

# The voice acting is still great.

# Lots of unique episode concepts that haven't been done before.

# The characters who were flanderized during Seasons 6-8 have had their original personalities restored.

# There are some new fan favorite episodes, such as "Mimic Madness", "My Leg!", "Karen's Virus" and "FarmerBob".

# Most of the episodes are great, like in pre-Seasons 6-8.

# Lots of references to the classic era. For example, the pictures of SpongeBob and Patrick on their badges in "FarmerBob" is a reference to their poses in "Mid-Life Crustacean", Mr. Krabs' first dollar from "Wet Painters" makes an appearance in "Bottle Burglars", the Squidward Smells graffiti from "Sailor Mouth" appears in "Mall Girl Pearl" and "The Nitwitting", flashbacks from the classic era appear in "Karen's Virus" and the list goes on.

# Lots of great and memorable episodes, such as "Mimic Madness", "Karen's Virus", "What's Eating Patrick?", "Feral Friends", "Bulletin Board", "FarmerBob", "My Leg!", "Mermaid Pants", "Unreal Estate", "Pat the Horse", "Doodle Dimension" and the list goes on.

# Some of the episodes are so good that they feel like they came from the classic era, such as "Mimic Madness", "FarmerBob", "Feral Friends", "My Leg!", "Karen's Virus" and "Unreal Estate".

# Also, there's lots of great specials, such as "Goodbye, Krabby Patty" and "Goons on the Moon".

# SpongeBob's voice has returned to normal pitch since Season 8 and it sounds very similar to his voice in the classic era.

# The time cards and title cards are still great.

# Return of some classic characters who were absent for years, such as Patchy the Pirate, Potty the Parrot, the French Narrator and Bubble Bass.

# Some great songs, such as "Who Am I?", "Kung Fu Rock" and "My Leg Is In Love!"

# This era relies on anything to be entertaining, such as modernism, realism, slapstick, meta humor and even the charm of the classic era.

# Still shares some elements from "Rocko's Modern Life" and "The Ren & Stimpy Show".
